Lutheran Social Services

Afghan Allies have begun arriving at Fort Lee, Virginia, and LSSNCA is grateful to play a leading role in welcoming them to our community. As evacuation of our allies before the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan on September 11 is critical to ensure their safety, LSSNCA is mobilizing its community supporters to be a part of this historic welcome of 2,500 individuals in less than six weeks! We need your time, talents, and gifts to help provide transportation, housing, and other basic needs to our new neighbors, many of whom have received just a few days’ notice of their departure to the United States.

Jhpiego

“Please be our voice. I am not sure until when I have access to internet, email or even if I will be alive or not. But please raise Afghan women voice in the world. I do believe Afghan women never live life they deserve.”

This heartfelt plea from one of our Afghan midwives arrived as the Taliban took control of the country. It reveals what’s at stake for our Jhpiego colleagues who have worked for more than two decades to ensure healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries, educate girls and expand access to health services for even the most remote communities.

With evacuations escalating, banks shuttering and services in disarray, your contributions will help Jhpiego provide safety and choices for our Afghanistan team when they need them most. https://give.jhpiego.org/site/Donation2?df_id=3084&mfc_pref=T&3084.donation=form1

International Rescue Committee (IRC)

  • Many Afghans say they fear for their lives as violence escalates in their country. Already, some 550,000 have been displaced by conflict this year.
  • More than 18 million need aid as the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate rapidly amid growing instability.
  • The IRC is appealing for funding to help us continue to deliver aid in areas of conflict and support displaced people in Kabul.
  • We are also urging the Biden Administration to act swiftly to protect Afghans at risk, including those who supported the U.S.
